Ideal Protein® Weight Loss Method

Essure®
Bioidentical Hormone Therapy (BHRT)
Gynecare Thermachoice® III
Osteopathic Manipulation (OMT)

Essure®Essure is a permanent birth control procedure that works with your body to create a natural barrier against pregnancy. This is a gentle procedure, performed in your doctor’s office in less than 10 minutes, allowing you to return to your daily routine quickly, usually in less than a day.

During the procedure a soft, flexible micro-insert is passed through the vagina and cervix and into each fallopian tube. Over the next three months your body creates a natural barrier as the fallopian tubes become blocked.   After 3 months you will receive an Essure confirmation test to verify that your fallopian tubes are blocked, preventing sperm from reaching the egg so conception never occurs.

Essure offers the following benefits to women seeking a permanent birth control option:

No surgical incisions or general anesthesia is involved
No hormones are used
No slow recovery period – most women return to normal activities in less than one day
Quick and convenient procedure - typically taking less than 10 minutes in your doctor’s office
Peace of mind –the most effective form of permanent birth control available with a 99.74% effective rate in 5 years of clinical trials
Safe – the procedure avoids the risks and discomforts of a surgical procedure such as tubal ligation.

Choosing permanent birth control is a significant decision that should have careful consideration. We encourage you to explore the options and discuss the available treatment options with your physician.

Bioidentical Hormone Therapy
What is BHRT?
Bioidentical hormones are manufactured to have the same molecular structure as the hormones in your body. Many of the bioidentical hormones used are made from soybeans and wild yams, which contain unique compounds that are processed chemically and made into identical replicas of hormones the body produces. It is important to understand that bioidentical hormones are not the same as herbal compounds, such as black cohosh, evening primrose, dong quai or other herbal preparations that may be used by women. These compounds are typically marketed as natural remedies, but are distinctly different compared to BHRT.

What does BHRT do?
Treat the symptoms of perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause

How is BHRT given?
Supplied as topical, oral, or injectable formulas

Is BHRT right for me?
We have been using BHRT for many years in our practice with great success. We believe that women may feel best when the treatment is customized to their own particular hormonal needs. We work in conjunction with local compounding pharmacists to create a plan that works for you.  This individualized approach begins with laboratory testing of hormone levels. When necessary, we then prescribe a dose of bioidentical estrogen, progesterone, and/or testosterone. Each patient is then monitored through regular follow-up hormone panels to ensure she gets symptom relief at the lowest possible dosage. In the initial stages, we will do a hormone panel at frequent intervals. Once balance is restored, a hormonal panel may be done yearly at the time of your annual exam.

Gynecare Thermachoice®Women who experience heavy periods or menorrhagia (heavy bleeding) have great advances in treatment options available to relieve their symptoms.  One effective treatment for heavy bleeding is an endometrial ablation procedure called Gynecare Thermachoice ® Uterine Balloon Therapy System.

Gynecare Thermachoice is an effective nonhormonal permanent treatment for heavy bleeding. The 8 – minute procedure is minimally invasive and can be performed in our office.  The procedure permanently hinders the endometrium’s (inside lining of the uterus) ability to grow.  A small flexible balloon is attached to a thin tube (catheter)  which is inserted though the vagina and cervix, and then placed gently into the uterus. No incision is required.  The balloon is then filled with fluid so that it inflates to the size and shape of the uterus.  The fluid is heated and circulated in the uterus for 8 minutes while the lining of the uterus is treated. When the treatment is completed,  the fluid is withdrawn from the balloon, and it is removed.

Clinical studies show:

95% of women treated with Gynecare Thermachoice reported normal to no periods up to 5 years following treatment
3 out of 4 women experienced a reduction in cramping and menstrual pain
93% were still satisfied with the results 5 years after receiving the treatment

Other benefits include:

Minimally invasive service which is available at our office
Quick recovery period.  In most cases, women return to normal activities the next day
No hormones are used and does not require taking medication
No general anesthesia is involved
Safe—the procedure avoids the risks, discomforts and cost of an invasive hospital surgical procedure such as hysterectomy

We advise you to discuss this treatment option with your physician.

Osteopathic ManipulationWhat is OMT?
Osteopathy is a soft, hands-on manual therapy involving manipulation of the musculoskeletal system to reduce tension and improve function of the muscles, nervous system, connective tissue system, and skeletal system.  In turn, this reduces tension and improves the energy flow in all other parts of the body, improving the function of organ systems. Using OMT, your osteopathic physician (DO) - - Dr. Christopher M. Wirsing - -  will move your muscles and joints using techniques including stretching, gentle pressure and resistance.

How does OMT help?
Osteopathic manipulaton (OMT) is a non-invasive therapy that should be used to assist and facilitate all other therapies to maximize positive affect on every system of the body.  OMT benefits anyone who receives it.  It is most commonly used to treat people with structural problems and/or with pain, high-tension, or stress in the neck or anywhere along the spine.  Many people in high-stress positions (physical or mental) or people who just tend to feel “stressed out” get it regularly to control the physical manifestations of this stress.  Because it helps to strengthen the immune system and the body’s ability to heal, it is also highly recommended for anyone suffering from a disease or chronic illness.  When appropriate, OMT can compliment--- and even replace --- drugs or surgery.  In this way, OMT brings an important dimension to standard medical care.  OMT is often used to treat muscle pain, but it can also help patients with a number of other health problems such as:

Asthma
Sinus disorder
Migraines
Menstrual pain

OMT during pregnancy
Due to changes in a women’s body during pregnancy, patients often experience low back pain, heartburn, and general discomfort. OMT can increase flexibility and aid lymphatic flow, as well as decrease smooth muscle spasms, bringing medication-free relief to many of these symptoms with no side effects to the infant.

Key Benefits

Decreases pain in the connective tissue and nerves
Eliminates some types of headaches, lower-back and neck pains
Corrects structural imbalances
Improves body function and ability to heal
Increase mobility
